Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Officers report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Police then found many other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials state initial examinations indicate the fluid was probably human blood.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; investigators are not yet informed of any injuries in association with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the case" and have asked to the public for tips.
A high-ranking official said the incident rendered him stunned and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, referring to the killing of nine victims by a shooter focusing on individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
